Drew Abbott - Guitar/Vocals ex. Silver Bullet Band
Jim Craig - Drums.
(Re-unites w/ the original line-up)
Roaring out of Oakland County in 1968, Third Power was Detroit's first "power trio" of note.
Although later incarnations would dilute the original formula, the embryonic lineup of Abbott, Targal and Craig would be the most enduring.
A Grande Ballroom crowd favorite, the group built a strong following by mixing Chuck Berry and Cream covers with their own material. Ultimately landing a record deal of their own, these west side rockers could more than hold their own when opening for huge British touring bands like Genesis, Procol Harum and John Mayall.
Guitarist Drew Abbott later went on to join Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band and traveled the planet in support of several of Bob's LP's. In his career he has influenced a whole new generation of guitar players. Seger's "Live Bullet", recorded at Detroit's Cobo Hall, is one of the most successful live records of all time. Today Drew still lives in Birmingham and occasionally performs with the Traverse City based jam band Leo Creek
The Original 3rd Power has not performed together in over 30+ years. They will re-unite exclusively for this engagement at the Royal Oak Music Theater.
