Although the stock market crash of 1929 drastically slowed the Agree firm's output, the Architect continued to design notable theaters throughout the 1930's and 1940's. Some 50 or more theater designs were created, most were built in Michigan..
As post-war urban sprawl began, shopping in downtown Detroit moved to the suburbs. Through the later half of the century the Agree firm met this demand with designs for the Oakland, Southgate and Pontiac malls amongst many others. Cunningham drug stores and the Federals department store chain employed Agree extensively.
